Do you have any vegan pasta?
Unfortunately, both of our Vegan options have been discontinued from our available offerings. While initially hopeful that these items could do well at retail, they unfortunately were always the slowest movers at any account that did decide to bring them in (i.e. Target) and thus always resulted in being discontinued from the sets first.
Without a core anchor customer, like a larger retailer, it makes it really difficult for us to continue making these items due to the minimum quantities of ingredients required by the suppliers of things like vegan cheese. Simply put, it was a situation where the amount of ingredients we had to order for these items resulted in us needing to throw away 50% or more of the finished product because our ecommerce business alone couldn't move through enough cases to support making this item.
We have always been committed to doing our best to provide meal solutions for anyone no matter their dietary restrictions or lifestyle choices but our small brand just isn't able to support the amount of waste resulting from the continued production of these two Vegan items.
Our intent is to explore an alternative Vegan pasta item down the road so please don't hesitate to check back in with us.
What’s Xanthan Gum?
Xanthan gum is produced by the fermentation of a sugar (glucose)—much like the way yogurt is made. In our case, it's a non-GMO ingredient derived from corn that adds volume. There are no corn proteins in xanthan gum, and the ingredient itself is a very small percentage of the product. That said, if you have an allergy to corn, we advise checking with your doctor before consuming.
What is the ingredient Glucono-delta-lactone?
Glucono-delta-lactone is a natural acidifier also found in wine and honey.
What is the ingredient Konjac?
Konjac is a perennial plant. As an ingredient, konjac, is used as a plant-derived thickening agent.
Why is there so much sodium in your pasta?
We use salt in our fresh pasta to help ensure quality, inhibit microbial growth and prolong the shelf life so it remains fresh, safe and delicious for long as possible. By utilizing salt, we are able to avoid using less common ingredients with names you likely haven't encountered before.
The good news is that for our unfilled pasta, ~60% of the sodium transfers into the water during cooking leaving only 40% in the finished pasta. For our filled pasta, ~30% transfers into the water during cooking. Due to this phenomenon, it is not necessary to salt the water prior to cooking as is typically recommended when cooking pasta.
