The only time we'd mess with something as perfect as lasagna is to make it gluten-free! This classic Gluten-Free Italian Sausage & Ground Beef Lasagna is great for feeding a crowd or anytime you need a hearty comfort meal.
1 package Taste Republic Gluten-Free Lasagna Sheets
1 lb Italian sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
6 oz tomato paste
28 oz crushed tomatoes
15 oz tomato sauce
3 tbsp brown sugar
3 tbsp fresh or dried parsely
1 tbsp dried basil
1 tsp salt and pepper
1 large egg
15 oz ricotta cheese
2 cups Parmesan
1 ball of fresh mozzarella, sliced
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a large, deep skillet, brown sausage and beef. Drain excess fat and add chopped onion and tomato paste.
Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer 5-7 minutes.
In a bowl, add ricotta, egg, and parmesan and stir to combine.
Lightly grease a large baking dish and start to layer in the following order: meat sauce (about 2 cups), cheese mixture (1 1/4 cup), mozzarella slices (3 per layer), then 3 lasagna sheets (no need to boil first).
Repeat these layers in order three times, then top the last lasagna sheet layer with remaining sauce and cheese.
Cover with foil and bake 20-30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Top with fresh basil and serve!
